26 Apr

The heavy low slung battery and the Touring Graphite Edition's 18" low profile tires really gives the Niro very impressive flat cornering ability.

11 Jun

As a former mechanic, I like the concept of a small engine that powers and regenerates the battery pack under the rear seat (almost invisible!).

11 Jun

The battery is placed so that there is plenty of cargo space and the back seats fold down flat.

31 Jan

When switching from battery to engine it's a nice transition without it being harsh.

21 Sep

but this seems to be a common issue with current hybrid motors, and is not particular to the brand.

10 Aug

It feels like a 4 cylinder.

14 Jun

I like that you can more power when needed by having the gas and electric motors combined to give it that extra horsepower when merging onto freeways.

11 Jun

As a former mechanic, I like the concept of a small engine that powers and regenerates the battery pack under the rear seat (almost invisible!).

27 Feb

I was hooked, the engine is so quiet, the comfortable seats are great for long rides.

31 Jan

When switching from battery to engine it's a nice transition without it being harsh.

3 Jan

It's a marvelous car -- the handling is fantastic, it is comfortable and responsive, and the hybrid engine means that the mileage cannot be beat!

29 Jul

That is so great with the cost of gas going up.

23 Oct

Besides the incredible gas mileage, my Niro is so quiet and smooth.

14 Aug

Car rides nice is roomier than it looks and gets wonderful gas mileage.

8 Jun

It get fabulous gas mileage, better than it's rating.

20 Aug

Everything else is as expected: an economy car with good gas mileage.

13 Jul

I am saving a ton on gas.

22 Jun

The car play and Bluetooth work seamlessly and the gas mileage is fantastic.

17 Jun

Only bad thing doesn’t get as great of gas mileage.

27 May

It’s stylish, comfortable and gets good gas mileage.

20 Apr

Met all my expectationsall my expectations good legroom attractive outside and inside an excellent on gas has all the add-ons you would want in a car

26 Apr

A hybrid, any hybrid, will get best mileage in a specific set of criteria.

21 Apr

Really love my Niro, mpg is a very big plus!

23 Dec

50+ MPG and the radio is amazing.

23 Oct

Besides the incredible gas mileage, my Niro is so quiet and smooth.

14 Aug

8 Jun

13 Jan

It gets better mileage ln the city by the way .

20 Aug

Everything else is as expected: an economy car with good gas mileage.

13 Jul

I loved my 2008 Scion XB and this is just as good with twice the mpg.

22 Jun

The car play and Bluetooth work seamlessly and the gas mileage is fantastic.

29 Jul

It is very comfortable to drive in and in the winter I really enjoyed having a heated steering wheel and heated heats.

26 Apr

The interior is comfortable, roomy(I'm 6'3" 230lbs).

23 Nov

Lots of room and comfort for an older taller driver.

19 Nov

It’s very comfortable.

22 Jun

but couldn’t stand the Prius look, design, instrument panel and the idea that it’s comfort didn’t compare to the NIRO.

17 Jun

Very comfortable to drive plenty of leg room.go test drive one today and see for yourself

27 May

It’s stylish, comfortable and gets good gas mileage.

2 Apr

Eight months later, I'm now something of a hybrid convert… The Niro has plenty of features, has been absolutely reliable through a Minnesota winter, and is very comfortable to drive in both city and highway environments.

10 Feb

Interior is surprisingly comfortable and roomy,

2 Feb

Otherwise I still love the car and the way it drives and its comfort,

13 Jul

My only complaint about the car is the lack of power and the transmission.

2 Apr

N/A

18 Aug

I've read reviews saying poor pick up, or transmission issues, during test drives.

28 Jul

but the 6 speed transmission ( as opposed to a CVT) in my EX gives me the economy while being fun to drive.

5 Jun

First thing I noticed was the transmission on this car.

25 Oct

but silent efficiency, and watching the potential energy turn back into driving range / battery power as I go down hill is really gratifying.

7 May

As soon a battery technology gets better and better maybe there will be conversion kits to make other cars electric like this one with a great range.

1 Jul

Chevy has no such comparable "disclosure and disclaimer" with respect to its battery.

18 Jun

N/A

20 Apr

The battery heating and cooling is by far the best of all EV's that will extend the batteries life by a large margin.

7 Feb

One of the most important items is battery life and performance.

18 Oct

The one pedal setting is so easy and regenerates the battery.

7 Sep

I will likely not drain the battery to its lowest level or charge consistently to set 100%.

20 Aug

Great visibility and comfortable seats 200 miles on first trip with plenty of battery left.

20 Aug

It is SO fun to drive, the range is incredible - we can go so far and never have to worry about running out of battery charge, the features and technology is really fun and convenient, and most of all the car is fast.

7 Mar

The regenerative braking and the great torque of the electric motor are really nice.

31 Aug

Very fun to drive, great get up and go, more than most gas engine cars by far.

5 Nov

The electric engine is amazing.

18 Sep

The electric motor is surprisingly quick and performs easily.

31 Aug

Motor Trend and North American CAR OF THE YEAR . ..

27 Jan

The car has great acceleration because of the electric motor and is relatively comfortable with decent room in the rear seats.

21 Nov

Recommended, especially if you can get it for somewhere near the tradein value, unless you really need the long range of a Tesla.

24 Jun

Very comfortable, quiet, safe and gives the range as expected.

13 Feb

very quiet and great acceleration and the chevy bolt has 240- 260 mile range depending on outside temp

9 Jan

It is incredibly fun to drive, great off the line speed, great range for an affordable ev.

5 Dec

I love the range of the car.

26 Nov

The Bolt is well thought out - if not on par from a status perspective with Tesla, it meets all my practical needs - good range, easy to park, smaller than the larger options and cheaper to operate (more efficient AND lower cost on insurance).

26 Oct

And so far, no range anxiety!

25 Oct

It’s quite slow (about 4 miles of range per hour of charging)

7 Jul

The range is the best you can get for $40000.

5 Jun

It can extend the city driving range a lot.

21 Nov

TLDR: a good little car, easy and fun to drive, among the most efficient EVs, has a few caveats

31 Aug

Very fun to drive, great get up and go, more than most gas engine cars by far.

17 Jul

We enjoy driving it.

9 Jan

Doing the right thing and having fun doing it!

26 Oct

It’s been a lot of fun to drive around town and not have to worry about getting gas, plugging in overnight and getting tons of range.

12 Dec

Easy and fun to drive.

5 Nov

This is a fun car to drive.

24 Jul

I enjoy the car; its road performance is outstanding, its comfort is adequate for me and I'm now completely off the grid.

18 Jun

23 Apr

.More fun than anyone should legally be allowed to have.

9 May

however the back seat is super comfortable.

18 Mar

It's just the right size, has very comfortable seats and is loaded with technology!

8 Sep

The dashboard is nice looking, the leather seats are all heated and rather comfortable.

24 Jun

Very comfortable, quiet, safe and gives the range as expected.

22 Jun

This car far exceeded my expectations in both comfort and quality of the ride.

29 Jan

I am 6'4" and would of course appreciate more comfortable seats,

8 May

Other shorter drivers and passengers were comfortable.

26 Jan

The car us comfortable and drives ok except for one major glitch.

5 Nov

Comfort is ok: definitely not a luxury vehicle

24 Jul

I enjoy the car; its road performance is outstanding, its comfort is adequate for me and I'm now completely off the grid.

21 Nov

but it was still (at 3 years old) in nearly new condition, no rattles/squeaks.

8 Sep

The lack of engine noise and quick acceleration take a little getting used to,

23 Apr

No rattles, squeeks or other troubling issues to speak of.

23 Sep

No noise, no sputtering, no transmission shifts.

20 Aug

• Road noise – Seems excessive for a car in this price range.

22 Jan

This folds easily into the back seat area, and then before we leave the car in the sun we simply deploy this shield on the inside of windscreen.

21 Oct

Cheap sun visor doesn't light up or extend.

5 Sep

Also, a sunroof is not an option and that keeps the interior dark.

20 Aug

The sun visors could be a little bigger or use extensions.

4 Nov

The battery life is pretty limited,

3 Aug

I drove it 95% fully electric as it has the super extended range with the 2017 battery of 18kWh.

18 Dec

With the solar panel and battery, I am almost 100% fossil fuel free.

19 Aug

Combine it with the many more miles on battery alone, and the combined "gas" mileage is 171-lifetime mpg.

14 Aug

Both battery plug in, regenerative charging and ICE to avoid range anxiety.

17 May

This car has a 60+ mile range on battery.

19 Mar

More battery capacity, longer battery range (35 vs. 53), slightly better fuel economy on gas, uses regular gas instead of premium, better pickup (although the gen 1 was already really perky), and improved handling.

29 Oct

trouble free, quiet, fun to drive, comfortable, low operating cost, looks great, excellent active thermal battery management, lots of tech

24 Feb

The 53 miles for a full battery charge works well for my commute to Memphis.

24 Aug

It has twice the battery range of Prius Prime and was much cheaper than a similar model from BMW.

3 Aug

Never had range anxiety as it has the range extender gas engine on top - which is by the way also super low on gas.

2 May

Not enough time to really get the engine going.

26 Nov

This car is also very quick, the electric motors are fast.

19 Aug

But it is the inclusion of the range-extending gasoline engine that makes the Volt perfect for us and rural America.

5 Jun

So far for the last 800 miles just on the gas motor has been well over 50 mpg on regular 87 octane gasoline.

16 May

It's quick because it's all torque from the start and so quiet (even when the gas engine is running which is not often.

24 Aug

The electric motor provides smooth, fast acceleration without the changing gears of an old-fashioned transmission.

25 Mar

Having no engine and only one gear, accelerating and idling (lots of that in San Francisco) are smoother than any car with an internal combustion engine.

15 Mar

As they say, the Volt has the battery when you want it and the engine when you need it.

27 Aug

A gas engine basically is a device that needs to contain small explosions converting the explosion into motion and heat.

24 Apr

Rarely ever use gas unless I’m on a long road trip then it’s gas and go.

17 Nov

We can drive across the U.S. to the Midwest ( which we have twice) we did not worry about the next charge because we could drive on gas.

16 Oct

Which means most days I use no gas.

3 Aug

Never had range anxiety as it has the range extender gas engine on top - which is by the way also super low on gas.

23 Jul

With limited EV plug ins available to date in the U.S. (it seems that will be changing soon as more are expected nation wide) I love the ability to run on gas if needed.

1 Jun

During the summer I get more than 70 miles on a charge around town and the gas mileage is excellent when I've exceeded the charge on a trip.

26 Feb

It cruses wonderfully on the interstate in extended range with the gas motor/generator.

21 Jan

You get great mileage whether you use gas or electric.

25 Dec

Can commute most days without using gas.

18 Dec

With the solar panel and battery, I am almost 100% fossil fuel free.

1 Oct

but an excellent balance of comfortable and yet sporty performance with all around competent handling characteristics.

1 Jun

Whenever I have someone riding with me, they always ask what kind of car it is - so quiet and comfortable.

11 May

but relatively comfortable for one of its size

25 Dec

Very comfortable and inexpensive to run.

8 Nov

What I did not expect was how comfortable it is to drive and how many features are included on the base model.

19 Aug

But the seats are comfortable for long-distant travel.

20 Jun

Comfortable interior, lots of options like automatic parallel parking, heated leather all four seats, configurable dash display.

26 Apr

The new Volt is incredibly comfortable, quick and responsive and I get over 65 miles of EV range.

29 Oct

trouble free, quiet, fun to drive, comfortable, low operating cost, looks great, excellent active thermal battery management, lots of tech

17 Oct

but way, way more comfortable for long drives.

24 May

- tight handling - 350 mi+ range on a charge.

17 Nov

What we really love is the lack of range anxiety.

1 Oct

What an incredibly well executed hybrid alternative with the brilliant addition of electric only driving range of 50 miles or more.

3 Aug

I drove it 95% fully electric as it has the super extended range with the 2017 battery of 18kWh.

11 Jul

Smooth ride, great information on how I'm driving, great range as an EV, decent range as a gasoline hybrid.

2 May

summer range in the mid 50's to 60's.

26 Feb

It cruses wonderfully on the interstate in extended range with the gas motor/generator.

14 Aug

Both battery plug in, regenerative charging and ICE to avoid range anxiety.

17 May

This car has a 60+ mile range on battery.

26 Apr

The new Volt is incredibly comfortable, quick and responsive and I get over 65 miles of EV range.

3 Aug

Always great acceleration, while you can hardly hear any noise from the electric motor or the gearbox.

24 Feb

The car is amazingly quiet (mostly tire and wind noise).

22 Aug

Under heavy load, the generator revs up and there is a slightly detectable buzz.

2 Jul

Some sponge foam pieces took care of the noises and everything is quiet.

6 Jun

It makes a cool noise for blind people to hear you at the crosswalk.

15 Mar

So far I cannot really tell what this extra noise sounds like and is therefore unnoticeable while driving.

19 Mar

But I'm very comfortable with this car and am never worried since it as a gas tank too.

2 Jul

I'm impressed since the car only has an 8.9 gal tank.

6 Jun

The Volt gives you 50 to 70 miles running on battery charge, and then kicks in a gas engine to charge the battery and keep you running for about 450 miles total until you have to fill up the little 8 gallon gas tank if you are on a long road trip.

15 Mar

This way there is no range anxiety and after driving the car for a month and 1600 km we still have half a tank of gas left from our first fill up.

21 Jul

The car has only a 9 gallon fuel tank.

27 Mar

If you're looking for a "green" car, it's a great solution, while we wait for newer battery technology and a charging infrastructure.

10 Aug

Still gets great battery life.

18 Sep

I loved the way it went integrated the battery and internal combustion engine.

20 Jun

The Chevy Volt is a wonderful car, it plugs in to a standard household plug, and has a gasoline generator that kicks in seamlessly once the battery is depleted.

12 Apr

The battery and electric powertrain warranty of 8 years/100K miles is phenomenal and driving all electric NEVER gets old.

10 Apr

but for now the limited range in electric is sufficient for my daily needs and you have the generator at your disposal so no worries if the battery gets depleted.

26 Aug

GM thankfully went the extra step to thermally control the batteries and keep buffers to help the batteries last and the reality is it works.

5 Nov

I would buy another and look forward to the new generation batteries which are coming and will extend it's electric range by 4 to 8 times.

21 Mar

Highway speeds drain battery fast, think 25-30 miles total (strangely, 25 in the winter anyway).

18 Dec

And also try not to take your Volt battery pack out of the car and hit a light pole with it to a degree that the casing is depressed in for 2 inches, then flip it upside down.

27 May

Ya boy Cadillac bishop here , now this is a reliable motor vehicle!

3 May

The gas mileage when using the engine is great!

18 Sep

I loved the way it went integrated the battery and internal combustion engine.

26 May

Torque is unbelievable, uphill power far excels regular motor vehicles.

20 May

(4.2 miles per kw-hr electric, 43 miles per gallon of gasoline, making it clear the extra compression ratio over the Cruze and the need for premium gas is well worth the extra cost).

3 Sep

Comfortable seats, quiet as heck, great looking, and keep driving past the 40 mile electric charge and the generator motor kicks in.

9 Jan

N/A

18 Sep

It is so much like a normal driving experience and completely lacks the more herky-jerky engagement of the gas engine in a hybrid.

18 Sep

You won't go back to a gasoline engine again.

12 Sep

You can't get any smoother than an electric motor, so that part I knew would be good.

3 May

The gas mileage when using the engine is great!

23 Apr

So far since filling up on Jan 1 2019 to filling up today 23 April 2019, I have spent $134.95 on gas and travelled 4612km.

7 Apr

Good gas mileage when it does need to use gas.

2 Jan

This car drives really well and I only have to go to the gas station a few times a year because it has a high electric-only range.

10 Aug

Pretty consistently get around 40mpg running on gas.

27 May

I like this car it?s good on gas very stylish and has everything as far as options you can ask for it has a ton of leg room and that was important to me because I?m over 6?3

18 Jun

26 May

Has true seating for 4 adults, with comfort, and hatchback with ample space for luggage/groceries.

17 Sep

11 Jan

Great gas mileage and a good long distance travel car.

18 Aug

Reliable and good on gas,

7 Aug

One thing I did learn is that burning 89 octane gas really improves the power and gas mileage for the 4 cylinder engine.

20 Jun

Great gas mileage is an added bonus.

9 Nov

It’s beyond gas efficient and safe for my family.

3 Dec

I am so stressed out about the ticking time bomb I'm driving, the possibility of losing a car I love and about spending money on another car (of any model) that could very well have the same problem.

18 May

I couldn't deal with the noises and was sick of adding oil to it so often and got rid of it soon after 100k miles.

30 Oct

I've got 60k miles on my 2007 and had no mechanical issues except with a few rattles, and the brakes.

27 Jan

Now the dash has been making noises even when stopped.

25 Jan

1) After about 20k miles - a small rattle did develop somewhere in the dash.

26 Nov

And there is wind or road noise also that wasn't noticed before.

Remember my model is a 2-seater, with lock boxes built into the rear floor, and another "hidden" compartment where the spare tire and battery are housed. I've hauled plenty of stuff in the back and

6 Sep

I have 125,000 miles on it first tuneup over 100,000 miles over 100,000 miles and air cleaner place to battery with over 100,000 miles had over 100,000 miles for the brake job one of the best cars I've ever had .

26 Jun

BOUGHT OUR HHR OF THE SHOWROOM FLOOR IN DALLAS COUNTY STILL LOOKS NEW IN 2006 LT PKG ALL BELLS @ WHISTLE, ORIG BATTERY STILL IN CAR HAD NO PROBLEMS NOW IF I COULD ONLY FIND MYSELF A SS MODEL JUST LIKE MINE IN EXCELLENT COND..

27 May

I've owned a luxury sports car as well as custom built good ol American Muscle cars and I have to say this little 2.0 liter turbo car is the epitome of technology and engineering of one of the Greatest car manufacturers ever!

19 Nov

•The ecotec 2.2 motor offers good power and torque, combined with great fuel economy.

16 Jun

Decent acceleration with the 2.4 motor.

28 Feb

Good acceleration from the 2.4 engine.

9 Apr

Chevy HHR is a small nimble & quick 4 cylinder 4-door with a modern redesign of the old 1949 Suburban.

23 Dec

Motor is very strong 2.0T from cobalt SS and Sky/Solstice.

27 Sep

The engine isn't the type to set you back in your seat,

29 Jul

A 4 cylinder with turbo and a prety good suspension makes it handle well.

7 Apr

A stout engine, the same EcoTec that powers the Solstice is put in the HHR SS.

17 Mar

I had Meineke replace the exhaust and I put on a cool black muffler with a carbon fiber tip.♪ On the inside, the seats are comfortable and adjustable to my tastes.

26 Jan

The 2.2 Ltr 5-speed Drives like a sport Car with the comfort of a SUV.

10 Oct

This car is different from the other HHRs it is one of the most comfortable seats.

16 Jun

Pretty comfortable ride.

28 Feb

The seats are very comfortable for even long rides.

20 Mar

but it's very roomy and comfortable.

29 Oct

It is comfortable to drive, getting better gas mileage than my minivan I traded in for it.

15 Nov

The seats are comfortable, front and rear, and there's good visibility all around.

7 Jun

If you do like it and are looking for a comfortable, flexible small wagon with space the HHR is a good car.

22 Feb

You won't find a car with this kind of power that is so good on gas.It is a great car and fuel economy is amazing for the size and the power. Very comfortable interior, beautiful upholstery (I have the SS model)

4 Dec

I have moved between states and had lots of room for immediate necessities.

17 Mar

but there is ample space for that.

19 Nov

Its positive attributes from my experience are as follows: •Offers lots of storage space especially with rear seats down.

9 Apr

The HHR (High Head Room) is roomy for such a small SUV

13 Jul

This car has a lot of room for storage.

8 Jul

it has a surprising amount of space.

24 Apr

These cars give you great fuel economy along with superb performance and lots of cargo space.

23 Dec

Great storage cargo room car is very versatile.

7 Jun

I'm tall (6'2'') and pretty big and have plenty of leg and head room for a small car; it's 3 or 4 inches higher than most.

17 May

though there is plenty of space for one.

19 Nov

•The ecotec 2.2 motor offers good power and torque, combined with great fuel economy.

28 Feb

It gets average gas mileage, in town 20mpg, on the road 35mpg or better.

10 Jan

Best fuel mileage and fastest vehicle I have owned .The style of vehicle is definitely different and very old style from the 50 s .You really get looks with this vehicle.

5 Aug

Fun peppy car that gets great gas mileage 30mph.

29 Oct

It is comfortable to drive, getting better gas mileage than my minivan I traded in for it.

13 Jul

The wastes very little gas & looks very nice from the interior.

8 Jul

good gas mileage.

24 Apr

These cars give you great fuel economy along with superb performance and lots of cargo space.

23 Dec

Love the gas mileage compared to my GTO that I got rid of.

15 Nov

Gas mileage is decent - 26-27 mpg @ 75mph in the Appalachians with 23-24 mpg in town.

19 Nov

However the car also has a few major drawbacks as follows: •I'm fairly tall at 6'1 and the visibility outside is horrible with a low cut windshield, thick pillars everywhere and small windows.

24 Jan

Visibility is terrible in town due to low windshield.

3 Oct

With the design of the windshield and roof sloping slightly.

20 May

And the location of the window switches & the rear wiper switch.

7 Feb

I do admit that it takes some getting used to, not having rear windows and all and I do agree that the front windshield posts are a bit thick and create somewhat of a blind spot,

17 Mar

but quite often they will be seen with engine lights on, front suspension problems, electrical issues, and susceptibility to water damage from rain.

19 Nov

• There is no dome light up front, the only one is far back in the cargo area.

17 May

The interior lighting is poor, the single dome ceiling light was placed in the rear of the cabin, beyond reach of driver leaving only map lights for front cabin illumination.

18 Nov

The lights for the front are on the rearview mirror and are nearly useless.

1 May

However, I nearly drove into a pickup truck on the highway because I couldn't see his headlights below the window line.

It's now 2020 and I still have the original factory battery in this car to this day!

14 May

I still am using the original factory battery after 196000 miles and have never had so much as a single mechanical problem ever.

26 Jan

So far, nothing rattles, and I like the battery being in the rear compartment, where it is clean and cool.

9 Jan

The 2.4 Ecotec engine is VERY reliable.

16 Jan

With 320,000 miles and still going strong, I am now experiencing faults with the vehicle add ons, such as the power steering motor and alternator.

3 Dec

A lot of space, engine is powerful enough, nice handling.

10 Oct

Performance is above average and the 2.2 liter engine is willing to rev its mind out when needed.

6 Jul

Performance is ok for 4 cylinders and I get around 27-29 mpg in town more toward 27 with the A/C going.

24 Jun

The interior room is surprising and the pick-up is amazing for a small engine.

24 Feb

The cars engine is peppy for a 2.4 litre, and it handles well.

I had the 2007 chevy HHR for almost a year, had a very comfortable ride, handled well, good pickup with the 2.4 liter engine with automatic transmission.

5 Oct

two it does ride low, comes with high performance rims, making tires more expensive.

21 Dec

I love the ride; it is quiet and so smooth - not to mention the milage I get with it.

6 Jul

There is no conventional dome light.

26 Sep

I don't like auto headlights or wiper stick on the right side of the steering wheel.

15 Mar

Way too much road noise, view for the driver is terrible as for seeing stop lights and any tall objects in front.

14 Jan

29 Mar

The windshield cracked easily and was replaced several times as well as tires and shocks.

24 Jun

Needed some getting use to because the windshield is rather small.

26 Sep

I don't like auto headlights or wiper stick on the right side of the steering wheel.

26 Jan

Sometimes I wish the windshield had smaller pillars at each side and maybe another cup holder in the back.

14 Jan

but because of its location some things may be exposed to higher temperatures due to direct sunlight through the windshield during the summer but despite my little nit picks i am very pleased so far with this car.

9 Jan

This HHR had the typical brake and suspension issues and this is where the vast majority of repair funds went ….. so be aware that it pays to buy quality suspension and brake parts from the get-go instead of trying to save a few bucks.

15 Sep

2006 with 42000 miles kept in garage, never abused, services at the dealer, new tires, break, oil, air filter, detailed, super clean, smooth ride, no noises and it looks like brand new.

24 Sep

Major brakes issues.

6 Jul

There is no center storage, just two cup holders that are limited in cup height by the emergency brake lever.

24 Feb

Oh yes, the brakes squeek and the dealer claims they couldn't duplicate the problem.
