22 Jun

Too short - bump head getting in. Comfortable.

31 May

but on long drives (300 mi) they tend to get hard and stiff.

28 May

The Limited platinum rides rough, and potholes and even small bumps in the pavement, one can be felt.

9 Mar

The Toyota has a smooth drive and a suspension set up to soften bumps and road cracks.

4 Jun

Although the Limited version has better suspension, it still falls short of the earlier models.

27 Jul

A much less practical mini-Van.

9 Nov

The vehicle meets all of my needs moving out of three mini vans I have all the comfort and room it need

23 Dec

My Sienna minivan had a JBL sound system which was great,

5 Nov

One thing I simply do not like is ride comfort.

13 May

The seats are comfortable and everything is easy to use.

31 Mar

This car is so comfortable for me an my family and I can go anywhere with out any mind problem.

17 Jan

I love the size, comfort, and with the V6 engine she is a smooth ride almost like a truck.

15 Dec

Definitely the most comfortable Toyota I've ever owned.

7 Aug

The Highlander is a comfortable and thoroughly reliable SUV.

25 Jun

smooth ride, comfy seats, plenty of leg room in first and second row, nice features in the XLE, great upgrade from my RAV4; has a third row and keyless entry

19 Jun

But, while I used to own Lexus, Land Rover, Ford, Jeep SUV's - this by far out-does them in pure solidity, comfort and smoothness.

18 Jun

It is a pleasure to drive, comfortable, good engine, design is top notch; just fun to drive.

3 Jun

One of the best and reliable car on the road and very excellent on gas also and comfortable with a nice design and very low maintenance.

5 Nov

One thing I simply do not like is ride comfort.

17 Jan

I love the size, comfort, and with the V6 engine she is a smooth ride almost like a truck.

16 Nov

So dependable, smooth ride.

25 Jun

smooth ride, comfy seats, plenty of leg room in first and second row, nice features in the XLE, great upgrade from my RAV4; has a third row and keyless entry

27 Feb

Love it, rides smooth, comfortable seats, roomy.

26 Feb

buttery smoothness in the ride quality that I attribute to longer wheelbase, smaller wheel size (18 vs 20) and more vehicle weight.

15 Jan

I have just over 74,000 miles on this vehicle and it rides like new.

21 Dec

It's good on gas mileage and is very comfortable to ride in.

20 Dec

Smooth ride and beautiful interior.

4 Dec

I also wanted more room for my children and/or grandchildren to feel comfortable when they ride with me.

25 May

Room enough for a family of six.

17 Apr

The size fits my family's needs.

31 Mar

I love my car and al my family enjoy my new care

24 Oct

So many features, and room for the whole family.

24 Sep

The interior design is convenient for babies and kids in carseats!

7 Aug

Overall, an excellent family SUV.

8 Apr

(I sold the 2003 to a friends son and he is thrilled with it)

31 Mar

Marc Wright has been asked to find a number of different cars for me and my family.

9 Mar

i can haul 7 kids and the dog.

6 Feb

Reliable & comfortable SUV to drive.. Good for long drive and has spacious cargo place for extra luggage.

5 Nov

Things I think could be improved upon are noise, seat ventilation, seat comfort (I’m tall so take that with a grain of salt), ergonomics, navigation intuitiveness.

11 Feb

Meet s what I need, this year (model 2016) could use a couple more USB ports, I had to "pad" the Sub-woofer panel to prevent rattle, my AWD limited platinum model has captain seats in 2nd row, which only allows 7 capacity.

21 Aug

it is noisy inside at higher speeds do to a poor seal along the window.

31 May

I have noticed too much wind noise above 60 mph, and this is a big disappointment to me because of Toyota's reputation.

28 May

I tried to locate the source of the noise and taped up everything in the end

31 Mar

Only thing they need to improve on is a beeping noise when the car is off and the door is open.

30 Mar

It is loud due to excessive noise from the windows.

4 Feb

The noise is very annoying and persistent.

28 Jan

You get engine noise at low speed and tire noise along with wind noise at speeds higher than 45 mph.

12 Jan

Ride is smooth and you can barely hear the noise of the engine and tires.

18 Nov

I'm a little bit off-put by the 8 speed transmission.

22 Feb

Steering load seems opposite of what it should be, very light at high speed and as you brake / turn at lower speeds it gets heavier.

21 Aug

it is noisy inside at higher speeds do to a poor seal along the window.

28 Jan

You get engine noise at low speed and tire noise along with wind noise at speeds higher than 45 mph.

8 Nov

The motor sounds fine at most speeds

26 Aug

My only gripe is the 2016 Tacoma and 2013 XLE Avalon both have digital speedometers yet the 2016 Limited does NOT.. real bummer as I prefer to "see" my speed digitally displayed.

7 Mar

I'm somewhat disappointed in the amount of wind noise I'm hearing while driving at higher speeds (over 55 mph).

22 Feb

Steering load seems opposite of what it should be, very light at high speed and as you brake / turn at lower speeds it gets heavier.

8 Oct

It seems no matter what Toyota vehicle we lease the brakes are the weakest link.

23 Feb

The Chevy and Jeep had poor reviews ranging from the Chevy Traverse catching on fire 2 days after having it and the Jeep Grand Cherokee having issues with also catching on fire and having an issue with it's parking brake not holding and rolling away.

2 Jan

The brakes are awful, pedal often goes almost to the floor and the dealer says this is normal. They would not even check to see if the brakes needed to be bled as they said this would be admitting there was a problem?????????)

23 Dec

After reading many other customer complaints about various issues with 2013-2015 brakes not working while driving (Yikes!

27 Apr

Fuel economy isn't great (we averaged 20 mpg with a cargo box) -- hoping that improves as the engine breaks in.

5 Nov

Things I think could be improved upon are noise, seat ventilation, seat comfort (I’m tall so take that with a grain of salt), ergonomics, navigation intuitiveness.

5 Feb

The navigation system in the 2006 was poor and I would have to say the 2016 is worse!

31 May

The Navigation is not always accurate or easy to use, so I tend to use google on my I phone and I rarely use the Toyota Nav any longer.

14 Sep

The fact that the nav screen is not recessed or protected results in a glare that make the screen at time unusable.

4 Aug

GPS poor, 5 Keyless locking system poor - won't unlock all doors when opening, 6.

22 Jul

The navigation system is not that great and I am considering switching it out,

14 Jul

Most of the options won't save as default, the GPS is horrible, and trying to use the touch screen while driving is too distracting.

1 May

The navigation system will not allow you to get lost!

27 Apr

Cons: Limited edition lacks some safety features that other vehicles in this class include as standard, plastic covering on "premium" wheels, JBL stereo sounds terrible (under powered), navigation screen glare (due to poor positioning).

6 Apr

Navigation is not always accurate, does a poor job of finding alternate routes.

24 Mar

The original Toyo tires were awful and I replaced them at 23,000.

28 Jan

You get engine noise at low speed and tire noise along with wind noise at speeds higher than 45 mph.

12 Jan

Ride is smooth and you can barely hear the noise of the engine and tires.

7 Mar

I'm comparing it to my 2010 Highlander, which I was hesitant to trade in for the 2016 because it was the best vehicle we had ever owned--the only time it was in the repair shop was for oil changes and tire rotations.

16 Aug

Had a 2012 FX35 prior and it was just way to stiff and uncomfortable for most driving conditions.

10 Aug

even though they look better) - Slightly more jarring than expected on potholes given the class of vehicle - Nissan-esque packaging of options (a hands-free liftgate requires a $7,500 package? Come on. )

8 Jul

XC90 is loud, has lousy suspension and you cannot put feet back in typical 'squat' position because of a wall that gets in way.

7 Jul

'16 XC90 is loud, has lousy suspension and you cannot put feet back in typical 'squat' position because of a wall that gets in way.

No way on the Enclave - its a minivan and a drone to drive

9 Nov

Our VW Routan minivan, which we traded for this car, was much more comfortable.

14 Jul

It offers good quality for the cost and my minivan is slowly

26 Nov

Pro - fun to drive, love the 360 degree camera, makes parking a snap, great MPG, comfortable seats, lots of trunk space.

13 Jan

It is comfortable for long drives and easily seats six for short drives and two in the back seat nicely on long trips.

20 Nov

Very reliable, comfortable for my whole family with third row seating, DVD Player for our road trips and a good looking car.

16 Nov

Very comfortable and roomy interior.

19 Aug

Very comfortable.

26 Jul

Very comfortable seating.

Very comfortable and roomy interior.

15 Nov

Plenty of interior room.

11 Oct

Love the interior Java color.

5 May

The interior of the QX60 is truly a masterpiece - by far the most beautiful and thoughtfully designed vehicle interior I’ve ever seen.

13 Mar

Interior is a pleasant place to be

23 Oct

I think it's a beautiful car inside and out.

29 Aug

Comes loaded with technology inside and out.

31 May

This car met all my needs, 3 rows, 7 seater with entertainment for my kids for long rides.

8 Apr

It’s rides very smooth.

19 Aug

Great get up, smooth ride, quiet.

26 Jul

3 Apr

Great vehicle beautifully made and drives and rides awesome.

2 Oct

Love this car great ride heavy feeling safe feeling beautiful and classy has mileage is great has all wheel drive the best car I have driven

29 Aug

Great ride quality !!

19 Aug

I haven't had any other issues with this car and it is a nice ride.

16 Aug

The Qx60 is a much softer ride!

26 Nov

this noise started periodically after a yr

26 Jul

Ac cooling fan noisy on outside, can not be heard inside.

13 Apr

When I bought it there was a rattling coming from the passenger side that seemed to be a metal line under the car tapping.

23 Oct

Downsides: developed bad rear hatch rattle which I fixed myself with a little black tape on the elbow latch (easy), bigger issue is I think the paint job is poor, it is easy to develop paint chip dings on this vehicle.

19 Dec

I've got one rattle in the passenger door that goes away when the car heats up.

5 Dec

Cabin noise is a little intrusive

5 Sep

I had a noise in the fan area for ac/heat.

9 Nov

In addition, there are multiple rattle is the dash which the dealer has yet to eliminate, which adds to the frustration.

12 Nov

Around 37k the fan went out.

26 Nov

loud screeching noise now because engine fan needs to be replaced for 1K.

26 Jul

Ac cooling fan noisy on outside, can not be heard inside.

13 Apr

10 Dec

The suspension is also very awesome.

23 Jun

The 20" wheels give a smoother ride and independent suspension limits bumps.

10 Apr

I'd say overall it's a rough ride and not thrilled with the shock system.

3 Aug

If you accelerate on an uneven road ssurface, it makes you appeart like a drunk driver as it pulls all over the place!

25 Jun

It is extremely rough on all roads.

12 Jul

BUT it?s nice and stylish not a mini van:).

24 Apr

After 3 children and nearly 20 years driving a mini-van, my wife was ready for an SUV.

9 Jan

The kids love to ride in the Explorer versus the other low-tech beheamoths and dreaded mini-vans.

20 Aug

For my money, even post kids I'd probably look at a minivan -

12 Nov

It's comfortable, reliable and has plenty of power.

3 Jun

It exceeded every expectation i had as far as style and comfort are concerned.

27 Mar

Great styling, comfort, reliable.

24 Feb

It has the most comfortable seats out of any vehicle I’ve ever sat in, even vehicle that cost twice a much.

21 Dec

But we like the car so far - it's very comfortable for my family.

13 Nov

Plenty of comfortable room for passengers and/or hauling.

22 Oct

I absolutely love this car, it is so comfy and gets great gas milage for an SUV.

20 Jul

Good comfortable ride decent gas mileage for a large SUV.

26 Jun

Now we can travel in comfort.

28 Mar

The vehicle is very comfortable and is a pleasure to drive.

27 Jan

Car has been a great car for travel.Lot’s of room.

21 Dec

Plenty of room and feels nice to drive.

13 Nov

Plenty of comfortable room for passengers and/or hauling.

10 Aug

This truck is very spacious from the front row to the cargo space.

10 Aug

this car met all my needs, very reliable car, strong looking and acting, love a dual sunroof and extra two seats on the back, ease folding for cargo space

3 May

Especially enjoy third row seating, extra space is definitely needed for me and my family!

20 Jan

The third seating is excellent for having guest,l and using the space when the seats are down.

13 Oct

There is room for additional friend with the third row seating with room for packing as well.

1 Sep

Great vehicle tons of room super comfortable seats!

22 Aug

What I really like about the car is the fact that it has enough space for me and my family also, that it runs very smoothly and the color is very nice.

13 Nov

I love the options on it!

24 Oct

Rides like a cloud, still powerful, class and practicality all in one package.

3 Sep

The third row seat is my favor perk of this vehicle.

5 Jan

Very roomy vehicle, and versatile with all added features.

17 Dec

Has all the options that I wanted and needed.

19 Sep

This car has a lot of great features, love the style, size and the convenient optional 3rd row seats.

14 Jul

Extra features like a DVD player with built-in headrest screens, power folding back door and power folding third-row seats make this vehicle stand out from the rest.

22 Nov

My fully loaded 2013 Explorer Limited has every option you could possibly need.

17 Nov

Every feature available in Limited trim, even more than MB ML I own.

30 Oct

Plus have some really nice features now DVD players, Leather/heated Seats, and lots more.

23 Jul

A few minor "complaints" largest being the smallish gas tank.

15 May

I do wish the gas tank was larger, as I feel I'm making trips to the gas station often.

21 Mar

The fuel tank is small, have to refill often.

19 Feb

Really like the Explorer BUT the gas tank is WAY undersized and am only getting about 15 MPG on the Sport.

9 Nov

The only thing i would change is the gas tank size, not a big deal

20 Aug

Gas tank is far to small!

6 Aug

For example, the fuel tank is now on the right and the wideshield wiper controls are on the right of the steering wheel - minor inconviences.

13 Sep

The main gear in the system failed and locked the steering down, thankfully we weren?t going fast.

28 Jun

It briefly failed to move once when I shifted into Reverse -- the engine cut off, and I could not restart for about 5 minutes.

17 Nov

It seems that as soon as the warranty was up things started to fail.

29 Jun

I'll be filing for a lemon law refund since I do not want a "new" car that has had virtually every part of the inside of the car torn apart as well as two major "failures" within 6 months and 6k miles.

22 Jun

It is nearly impossible to take a road trip without some malfunction.

27 Jan

The Paint Job is the problem and it started in 2015.

16 May

At only 3 years old the paint started bubbling and peeling off all over my hood and tailgate.

3 Jun

Transmission acted a little funny one day so I decided to upgrade.

8 Dec

From transmission problems to issues with it's suspension, it was an endless money put!

9 Mar

My wife would regularly smack my right arm when I would try to pass another vehicle because the shifting was harsh and the engine was so loud.

15 May

It tends to be sluggish and is sometimes frustrating when trying to pick up speed quickly and the transmission takes an extra second to downshift.

26 Oct

Brakes and suspension are really nice.

26 Aug

The sport package handles well, not too stiff, adding to the driving pleasure.

19 Aug

Sport suspension stiffer than base and Limited.

19 Jul

but much more comfortable on Quebec bumpy road.

28 Jun

but an extra gear would be nice for a bump up in fuel economy.

3 Jan

Sport model has firmer suspension than all other Highlander models which is why I picked it.

4 Dec

but this is a sport suspension and the car now has 19 inch tires and larger base.

9 Oct

Vehicle handles very well and the ride is smooth over rough Illinois roads.

27 Jul

although I always really enjoyed the Sienna. Everything else mechanical (suspension, brakes, etc.)

19 Oct

Growing family was in need of larger vehicle, I did not want a mini van so opted for a Highlander and could not be more impressed.

12 Apr

He gave up a 2003 Dodge Minivan for this and gained AWD, better handling, and better reliability.

28 Apr

So easy to get the kids in and out and it's not a mini van!

26 Aug

18 Nov

Past loves have been Expeditions, minivans and a sport car.

22 Sep

love it, very nice, rides good, love the heated seats, very roomy, like the color, like the push

25 Nov

It is strong and does not give any problems drives smooth, carries tons If weight and does not affect mpg Best suv with little to no maintenance issues

6 Nov

The Highlander has a sun/moon roof, heated seats, and a backup camera which my last vehicle didn't have and it is also a V6 that surprisingly gets good gas mileage.

26 Oct

Better gas mileage than before!

9 Aug

Cold Weather Package is a PLUS (heated windshield and mirrors) Decent gas mileage.

31 Mar

If you can find one with lower milage which is rare-grab it!

29 Dec

This car drove very nice, low mileage, good price and well taken care of from one owner.

28 Oct

High mileage has little to do with the value of this car.

15 Sep

Bad points: mileage low 20's around town.

16 Apr

Ok mpg, I think it's to light for the engine!

25 Aug

but wished gas mileage was better.

30 Jul

I didn't give it five stars because the ride and road noise aren't the best,

8 May

but worst of all was the 'Highlander startup rattle' Look for it, there's many examples out there.

18 Feb

There have been numerous rattles in the doors and currently the rear seat vibrates loudly even at low speeds.

1 Jan

I have to take constant trips to the dealership to get rattles fixed all over the car.

19 Jun

Now every time you turn the car on it makes a grinding noise.

30 Jan

My 2008 Highlander started making a severe sparkknock noise upon cold start.

7 Dec

What drives me crazy is the dash rattles, which is way worse in winter.

28 Jun

N/A

12 Feb

too many rattles in the dashboard that is driving me crazy, gets worse in the winter

4 Feb

In the snow, my brakes seem to lock the front wheels after a thumping noise.

8 May

Body rattles, transmission shift-float problems (FINALLY shifted normally after dealer performed a software recall for the brakes.

13 Jan

Have replaced numerous door rest inserts, ratlles coming from every corner, New transmission at 80k, now it's in the shop because the lift gate needs a new hydraulic system.

23 Feb

supposedly they have to drop the engine and the transmission to get to the water pump on the side of the engine.

23 Feb

supposedly they have to drop the engine and the transmission to get to the water pump on the side of the engine.

7 Aug

Another concern is lag on acceleration - shifting from 1 to 2 gear.

8 May

Long story short we took it in to be checked out and found out we need a new transmission!!!!

27 Apr

When going up small hills the transmission will not shift up and jerks when it does shift.

14 Apr

Second, the transmission makes me crazy. From a rolling start, the transmission doesn't upshift quickly enough from first to second, resulting in an awkward "pull."

2 Jan

but when starting off going down hill (which is how our drive is situated) this transmission is rough.

4 Dec

And heavy accelerations isn't well accepted by this transmission.

14 Apr

), the car had 1 issue in 8 years (water pump failure, covered under warranty - took an hour to fix).

14 Mar

Make sure sure sure before you buy this that the oil cooling pipe has been replaced under the extended warranty.

4 Jun

The tires cost about $1400 (poor choice and expensive) and regardless of the warranty they last only a mere 19K.

7 Sep

Yes, it was outside the warranty and Toyota has no obligation to fix it and I have no obligation to purchase another Toyota.

23 Sep

I was surprised that reliability has not been as good as I expected from what I was told of Toyota ( good marketing I guess),and some repair items under warranty required discussion elevated to dealer manager before issue was resolved.

but it's just a third row; tons of room in the trunk when third row seats are put down.

21 Feb

Storage space with seats down is plentiful and almost truck-like.

13 Feb

It has lots of room, is great to drive, looks stylish, has a great sound system, and is a smooth driving crossover.

29 Sep

Lots of room.

9 Aug

there is plenty of room for multiple car seats.

5 May

Runs very smooth, nice interior very comfortable, it has pretty good trunk space plus seats fold kind like a minivan.

27 May

The storage space in the front for odds and ends is limited in my opinion.

8 Apr

I carried today my girl's bike, my boy's trike and stroller and a couple of dinning chairs an I still had room in the back.

16 Dec

Smooth reliable ride with quality interiors and superb Bose sound.

29 Nov

Luxury vehicle with great interior and an amazing driving experience.

14 Apr

but functional interior.

27 May

Beautiful interior design, excellent and comfortable drive, good maneuverability and reliable car.

19 May

Interior and exterior are great.

5 May

Runs very smooth, nice interior very comfortable, it has pretty good trunk space plus seats fold kind like a minivan.

27 May

The interior space and sliding middle row is a great feature that makes increasing leg room to the second row or getting passengers into the third row much easier.

29 May

It's the perfect size, inside and out, good value, good quality.

24 Jul

Interior finish is super nice with all the amenities.

31 Mar

3.7 L V6 is great, the leather interior is well finished, goes hard

31 May

I get plenty of compliments from people that ride in the car when I drive as a Lyft operator.

25 Feb

It has been a quiet, smooth ride.

16 Dec

Smooth reliable ride with quality interiors and superb Bose sound.

5 May

My suv is a 2008 and I promise you it ride like a brand new car the previous owner took very good care of it.

14 Apr

Kind of high and floaty ride.

18 Aug

Still rides quiet as can be and so smooth.

11 Jun

Very smooth ride.

24 Jul

but really the suspension is more sport-tuned and the ride really isn't bad.

9 Feb

Whenever someone rides in it they are impressed & comment on how nice the interior is & how well it drives.

19 Oct

Great acceleration and smooth ride.

21 Feb

I have large custom rims (installed by dealer) with large tires so the road noise level is a bit high.

18 Aug

At nearly 170k miles I don't have an engine tap, oil leak or even a noise.

2 Oct

Doesn't rattle of ever misbehave.

18 May

The road noise is terrible.

26 Aug

Only criticism is this is my 2nd Mazda (also a 2007 "3") with a vibrating LH mirror - Mazda can't fix them??

24 Feb

Lot of wind noise.

1 Dec

Small vibrations in the passenger chair could be due to my children putting their feet on the back; I don't know.

14 Oct

There is less road noise, better steering, better stereo, more power and torque.

12 Sep

The engine noise and the cabin noise is barely noticeable.

15 Dec

We soon start another long trip and have concerns about the transmission failing

25 Oct

I have blind spot mirrors, automatic windshield wipers, dual control temperature for the front passengers and rear controls for the back.

29 Sep

Only major complaint is the water from a/c started leaking on passengers side about 1 year ago .

27 Jun

We have the grand touring there is not enough leg room for me I am 6'2 and not enough width between center console and door watch your ac drain they are known to clog if you here water in dash turn off ac or you will kill an expensive blower motor

11 Aug

For no apparent reason periodically when I turn off the car the a/c fans start.

17 Sep

i had the front relay sticking and not shutting the fan off .

4 Feb

but were replace at no charge), no MPG monitor, only one seat heater setting, poor mileage, navigation not great compared to Honda and screen hard to read at times.

In my opinion adaptive air suspension is a must, adaptive cruise control is fun, great help,

8 Jun

Special ordered, S-line, adaptive cruse and adaptive suspension together was worth waiting for.

4 Jun

The ride can be rough,

12 Apr

I selected the adaptive air suspension option, and that has turned out to be a great option, giving the car an adjustable ride, depending on the conditions.

14 Aug

The ride is much smoother, handling not as stiff, brakes not as touchy compared to the 07 I rented.

5 Mar

Third row seats are for kids and for travel under 20 minutes, not a minivan after all.

21 Jul

Afterall, this vehicle has everything you need to survive as a family of five and it performs, looks and rides like no minivan I've ever owned in the the last ten years.

4 Jun

I'm willing to take 5-7 mpg hit over a minivan for the sportier ride and appearance.

3 Jul

14 Aug

The slight front bucket seats are very comfortable.

25 Aug

The Q7 S-line is a cool looking SUV, if the cool design does not turn heads, the screeching brakes will!

29 Jan

With the 21 inch wheels this thing corners and handles more like a sports car than a SUV.

1 Sep

Typtronic tranmission was spectacular in moving through the passes, hair-pin turns and altitudes over 11000 ft. Six passengers very comfortable.

4 Jun

It has been a pleasure to drive with good handling (minimal body roll) and reasonable acceleration for the class of car.

22 Apr

The all wheel drive makes turning ratios a breeze.

14 Sep

The handling and seating position makes for comfortable commutes on DC's Capital Beltway.

Better off with these 20s than the 19s or 18s when it comes to handling. The acceleration, S turn capability, ride are perfect.

11 Nov

Intermittent noise from engine 7.

1 Feb

In 2 years the differential has been rebuilt twice, the battery failed, one window motor failed, comfort seats (heat & a/c) failed, passenger mirror motor failed and has more rattles that a daycare.

28 Nov

When I requested this I was told no on the muffler ( the noise is so loud you can hear it 20 feet away every time it is started or turned off) .

27 Aug

but were told that the next one might or might not make the noise and that every one is different.

16 Jun

I can hear a whining noise when I apply power (a bit annoying).

28 Mar

Have had lots of problems with the driver seat, rattles in the dash, water leak from the rear window and a loud humming noise from the axle.

5 Oct

Another thing I noticed is that sometimes when I'm driving with the radio off, I can hear a humming or high pitched noise.

7 Aug

The only major repair it needed was one brake replacement It was a strong, powerful car and I always felt safe in it

24 Sep

Only has needed brakes and tires.

23 Sep

Finally had to replace both front wheel hubs (bearings) and did brakes and alignment at the same time (by far the most money I have spent on the car since I bought it new).

21 Mar

NEGATIVES: What's up with the brake dust?

19 Dec

My major dislike of this vehicle is the excess accumulation of brake dust at the front wheel.

11 Dec

At 22000 miles I am having to replace the front brake rotors because they wear out with the pads.

11 Oct

we started having problems at 1600 miles with the hydrolic motor mount going out then there is the problem with the excessive brake dust.

10 Aug

Ford refuses to replaced the front brake pads with new ones that do not have escessive dust.

9 Aug

HOWEVER, I have had too many problems in the last year- new brakes at 23,000 miles, loud clicking sound going from 2WD to AWD(can't find the problem), over- hauled transmission(car was in the shop for 3 weeks I might add).

25 Jul

Both front calipers defective at 39,000 miles - out of warranty I have to replace.

2 Sep

At 50,000 miles (1 year later) A/C not working, rear locks not working, something wrong with the transmission, the expensive warranty I purchased does not cover.

29 Jan

But it was after the warranty period expired that things really started to go wrong.

29 Oct

25 Apr

I love my Escape, the ride is extremely comfortable, not truck-like, sporty and a real pleasure to drive

12 Dec

Driving it is a real pleasure.

11 Nov

Either we're not sinking any more money into it, as the transmission was on it's way out as well.

24 Feb

A delight to drive. Lost the Transmission and had to replace it,

17 Oct

New transmission installed in 2010 after 60,000 miles.

13 Aug

However at 92,000 the transmission went out.

11 Jun

Should have gone more then 84,000 before replacing a transmission.

2 Sep

The transmission failed me last year at 60K miles - $1K for new solenoid and fluid change.

2 Sep

6 months after I bought my escape the transmission went out of it.

23 Feb

but I had to refinance to fix my transmission and this Ford does not hold the value good at all.

22 Jan

The transmission shifts hard and now the whole brake system needs serious work.

29 Oct

It has occasionally shut off when shifting to reverse from another gear.

11 Apr

I had to replace the front axil due to the gear that drives the anti lock brakes cracking.

23 Feb

Now after I fix everything the shocks or springs broke because the car is making a loud cracking noise.

20 Jul

Cons: The clutch is grippie cold and improves at warmup; doors speakers buzz; too much road noise, and stiff clutch action.

16 Aug

The ride was very noisy with a lot of wind noise and road noise.

31 Aug

But the brakes squeak and grind even after having new pads and rotors replaced three days ago (42k now).

12 Dec

The aggressive tires are noisy

26 Aug

A bit of wind noise at high speeds(80mph) makes it difficult to listen to the excellent cd player (single).

25 Jun

We have this werid vibration in the steering wheel and we have had it in there 5 times and the still havent fixed it.

26 Aug

Just got my breaks changed and the mechanic that’s serviced the car since I got it said “man this just won’t break huh” I said nope he’s a tank” as long as you drive easy and keep it’s oil changed this suv is a tank.

12 Nov

I used to drive this car 50 miles to school and back 100 miles a day for a week i'd only have to fill the tank twice a week and it's GREAT IN THE SNOW!!!!

23 Dec

The only thing I'd like to have different on the interior is I wish the seats were a little thicker and the gas tank held more gas.

30 Mar

Only drawback is gas mileage. Averages 18 mpg and has a small gas tank(16 gallon)

16 Mar

Some of the things I'm not to fond of are: the turn ratio, the small gas tank, a lot of the controls are on the column levers and sometimes gets confusing (may just need time to adjust to them).

7 Feb

The only problem I can think of, is that the gas tank is too small.

9 Nov

The only downfall I have is the small gas tank.

29 Oct

They cannot fix it while its under factory warranty.

21 Aug

but only a switch was required to fix it; bought extended warranty, but only has covered the fuel pump so far - the car has been hit three times from behind and the bumper and whole exhaust system had to be replaced.

19 Feb

Ford and Easy Care, if that's who's providing you the warranty, considers the replacement 6 items on your engine a upgrade not a failure, so therefore ford and your warranty company will not cover this.

The only complaint is a somewhat noisy (whiny)transmission low gear transfer case and the unpainted plastic door protection outer trim that is prone to oxidize.

7 May

Had a problem with noise comming from the transmission.

15 Feb

At 7500 miles the transmission began to slip.

19 Jul

The only 2 Problems I have had with it is the rear a/c makes a Clunking noise and the Paint on the back hatch started peeling off with is common my friend has a 2008 Expedition EL and hers is starting to bubble now to.

4 May

but so many problems: the back-up sensors failed, the paint has peeled in many places, the release cable for back lid failed, and many more.

21 Nov

Paint flaking off front bumper. 4.

23 Sep

Paint flaking off the front.

17 Aug

The paint on the hood of my truck is flaking off after just three months.

7 Mar

Truck has over 220,000 miles on it, only thing major replaced is the fuel pump, the windshield.

24 Jul

Other than a transmission failure while still under warranty, the only other work needed in the 150,000 miles included a rear window wiper and the drivers' door power lock unit.

4 Mar

water would always leak into the vehicle on the driver side windshield handle area when it rains.

7 Jan

Windshield Wipers lasted 1 year?

20 Sep

Annoying windshield solvent low indicator goes on when tank is only about half empty.

15 Jun

It was driving rough sometimes and smooth other times.

1 Jan

Car has been wonderful, great in the snow, great ride, wonderful interior quality, engine smooth, transmission pretty good, suspension excellent for an SUV.

6 Dec

Love the sound of the Bose stero system and especially like the way it handels the potholes of NYC.

19 Sep

Give it a curvey road and you can have a very good time, and not be punished by a stiff truck-like suspension.

I loved this car, great drive, comfy and very reliable, an Acura tradition.

8 Dec

The interior is a very comfortable place to be.

18 Oct

I love it, good on gas, easy and smooth drive, very comfortable and definitely I highly recommendable.

18 Jun

It is a comfortable ride also.

23 May

It's amazing to me that any vehicle could last this long without major mechanical problems, and still look completely stylish and feel comfortable.

2 Jun

Comfortable car, good looking and performs well in snow.

It's roomy, comfortable, smooth to drive, has power and looks good.

12 Mar

Rides Like a truck

28 Feb

Smooth ride.

9 Sep

drives and rides so much better than any other car we’ve had, chevy, jeep, honda and ford.

19 Mar

When it is in between problems, i love the car, great smooth ride, excellent acceleration and great handling.

21 Oct

Rides and handles great for a vehicle its size (and age).

4 Sep

The room inside is great except the third row - tight fit - the ride is nice.

23 Aug

The ride is very sporty and comfortable.

12 Dec

The MDX rides so smooth you barley realize you're moving.

14 Jun

The style, ride and everything else is superb.

18 Jun

Has good performance and handling.

2 Jul

it does not give you a lot of problems, and it can handle any kind of climates.

19 Mar

When it is in between problems, i love the car, great smooth ride, excellent acceleration and great handling.

25 Mar

though the 2nd gen ones are really a revelation, handling like a 5,000lb version of my wife's BMW 3-Series.

22 Mar

Great handling, loved the interior design, the room and comfort.

11 Dec

And I love driving it, It's got a ton of room and handles nicely. But.

21 Oct

Rides and handles great for a vehicle its size (and age).

23 Jan

however handles well.

4 Jun

This company used to turn out good cars.

2 Mar

Closest to a minivan in ride and handling.

15 Jan

Only negative is that after 150K miles started to get a number of interior rattles - much to be expected after so much use.

23 Aug

no tire noise.

18 Jun

but almost no wind noise.

17 Dec

Some road noise.

1 Dec

Ive developed a rattle caused by a cheap weld on the heat shield for the exhaust and now my rear A/C quit working.

1 Aug

The transmission makes an unusual loud slamming noise when I shift to reverse or drive.

6 Feb

There's a rattling problem that took the service dept a couple of trips to fix & another rattling thing they CAN'T fix.

12 Jan

Also, get some excessively wind noise (off roof rack, I think) at around 70 mph.

29 Oct

The wind noise is too high.

25 Sep

Really like it except that I find the drivers seat very uncomfortable (too firm) and there is an annoying rattle that I need to take back to dealer to fix.

7 Mar

I started having shifting problems so I looked it up and that's when I learned about the bad transmissions.

5 Sep

Only major issue was transmission that had failed around 2014.

13 Nov

2003 should be recalled for transmission too.

12 Apr

We had a transmission rebuilt and a month after the warranty, it went out again.

25 Dec

The builder took pics of the trans it was HORRIBLE all burned up and stuff.

21 Feb

Two transmissions, a motor, a paint job and breaking down on vacations twice to name some if it!

14 Jan

Read some posts about a tranny shift problem and noticed a little hesitation around 170k.

14 Sep

These SUVs are known to have transmission problems, wish I would have known that before I spent so much on it.

15 Jun

I also read about transmission issues when it hits 100k.

29 Apr

Three transmissions later and numerous minor fixes.

19 Mar

Fixed A/C twice.

25 Dec

but the cooling fluid got into the trans fluid probably because trans cooler in the rad and ruined the trans.

4 Sep

Seat trim broke, rear A/C stopped working (due to a relay that I was able to replace myself) and all of the tabs on the interior A/C vents are broken (common MDX issue)

29 May

Vent knob spontaneously broke when I touched it a few months ago--sounds like this happens often with MDXs.

4 Sep

Driver regulator bolt snapped in half - cost to repl 1,500 - the finger controls for air vents snapped off - 275.00 ea to repl the vent modules - can't just repl the finger control pieces that snap off.

2 Aug

All A/C vents have fallen off; seat molding on drivers side fell off, rain sensor doesn't work, DVD player stopped working.

15 Aug

Only issue has been the seat heater, which quit working a year ago (and very expensive to repair).

17 Jun

Vent control plastic knob fell off.

1 Dec

Ive developed a rattle caused by a cheap weld on the heat shield for the exhaust and now my rear A/C quit working.

1 Jul

The air conditioner makes a rattling noise like a soft baby rattle which can be heard on the two lowest fan speeds.

25 Dec

So October 2014 D4 blinking light and check engine light AGAIN!!!

16 Feb

Now I've been told that the power steering is shot, a motor mount is broke, the seal around the left headlight needs to be replaced, among other things.

2 Oct

I have been to the dealer 6 times in the last 12 months with various engine lights/codes and what I call the Christmas tree - all error lights go off on the dashboard.

22 Jun

5 Aug

The only option that is missing to make this a PERFECT car is the telescopic steering wheel and XENON lights.

5 Sep

Only major issue was transmission that had failed around 2014.

13 Nov

2003 should be recalled for transmission too.

18 Sep

Don't buy this year range, cause you'll have a 25% chance of failure.

22 Jun

1 Sep

We have had several problems, the most serious being the brakes freezing up while driving due to a faulty sensor in the steering wheel telling the car that it was flipping and needing to stabilize!

however, nothing has failed to work properly.

9 Apr

but they kind of look like mini vans.

31 Jul

Air conditioning is a big improvement over my previous Dodge minivan - cools down quickly and maintains temp well.

9 Nov

I was done with mini vans!

22 Jul

An excellent midsize SUV for those not wanting a minivan!

4 Jul

Great vehicle - ride is quiet and comfortable, good gas mileage, great horsepower, love the heated and leather seats

27 Dec

Easy to maneuver, good visibility, plenty of room, decent MPG.

5 Jul

It still has great get-up-and-go, and the gas mileage hasn't lost any of its frugality.

13 Feb

It is quick enough (who needs a fast car in a country with a 55 mph speed limit?).

22 Sep

It's a great SUV and pretty reliable with decent gas mileage.

22 Feb

Very versitile, great space, very good milage.

9 May

Great gas mileage, can do the loading as good as in my Odyssey.

18 Jul

It's also quite powerful for its size and gas mileage.

1 May

Negatives are a bit too much road noise and poor visibility of deeply sunk in gauges and speedometer.

21 Feb

The only negative I would say was a fair amount of wind and road noise.

13 Feb

The body is solid, not one rattle despite being over 145,000 miles.

21 Apr

The rear hanger bearing on the drive shaft (the shaft that connects the front transfer case with the rear) is noisy.

17 Dec

I had to replace the HVAC blower motor (approx $250) because of an annoying rattle.

20 Aug

however, and the car provides a very comfortable ride, although it's a bit noisy at highway speed.

18 Oct

The only complaints I have about it are: (1) the lifter (fuel injector) noise -- and even that is minor.

10 Sep

I agree with the person who wrote in about the wind noise with the back windows down.

7 Sep

N/A

24 Aug

Road noise is minimal on highway compared to Camry I had previously.

9 Nov

The check engine light came on shortly after purchase and apparently the cause is a bad "ECM" board in the SUV.

22 Dec

I do feel safe stopping at a light with the possibility that i may hit the car in front unless i stop much further back than a reasonable distance.

25 Jul

The cruise control, widshiled wipers and lights are all at your finger tips without taking your hands off the steering wheel.

9 Jun

On coming traffic think I have the high beam rather than low beam on.

21 Feb

Concerns: excessive road and wind noise, instruments recessed and difficult to see when lights are not on.

9 Dec

Futhermore, the engine light and VSC light come on and stay on.

28 Jul

It has been great and it has great suspension.

5 Jun

The metal in this car is very thin and sounds like a tin can when you hit a bump in the road.

22 Aug

Typical Japanese suspension and seats (both very tight), unlike the plush, cushiony feel of American designed cars and SUVs.

20 Aug

Just took it to camping on rough road - very good for family treveling.

25 Apr

but not the rough ride or truck like feel of most of the SUVs on the market, this is the vehicle to test drive.

24 Mar

When I get in my daughter's Explorer, it feels like I'm riding in a rough old buggy.

how sad to say that this vehicle in the test drive had a better ride to it than the 09 American vehicles we test drove?

8 Jul

Lots of power, lots of space, great sound system, handles well for it's size/weight, mileage is good too.

27 May

After a few months, I had started to notice some minor rattling coming from the trunk area.

27 May

Only fault is noise if front windows are closed

5 Oct

The engine is very noisy now, which can't be due to a bad driver.

30 Jul

No one can seam to figure out why the brakes squeak all of the time.

28 Jul

I've had constant interior rattles and now my instrument cluster is dead, as are two air to fuel sensors.

27 Nov

The interior is pretty solid.. the only complaints i have is that it gets noisy at high speeds and the sound system could be better.

15 Oct

it rides smooth, intuitive controls,no squeeks or rattles only wind noise at speeds above 50-mph.Overall the quality is so good I wish I could afford a new limited.

1 Feb

High wind noise with rear windows open;

30 May

Only thing is it does not have great gas mileage since there is only 4 speed transmission.

7 Jan

And it's not very quiet at high speeds.

9 May

Two dislikes (suggest improvement) 1) High speed wind noise at rear seating area and when windows open, 2) and stereo system, sound is too soft for rear passengers,

1 May

At highway speeds the wind noise is high.

15 Jun

The only repairs have been the thermostat, the timing belt, and most recently a transmission leak that was $1500.

30 May

Only thing is it does not have great gas mileage since there is only 4 speed transmission.

1 Mar

Besides normal wear parts like break pads, light bulbs and tires, only things needed in all these years are two oxygen sensors and one transmission complete rebuild in 2015 at 155000 miles while driving in Connecticut cold.

8 Oct

After several mechanics looking at it, I took it to a transmission man and he found a ball bearing had broken and ground up in the transmission so I had to replace it.

16 Jan

At 104,000 miles the vehicle came to a literal "grinding" halt with a $4,000 transmission repair quote from a dealer.

18 Dec

The engine and auto trans still run like brand new - does not use any oil between changes, has never needed any internal engine or trans work - and never had any problems with any major components.

30 Sep

And two weeks later, I noticed my garage floor had fluids.Went to the dealer and they found out the transmission fluid was leaking and replaced seal.

8 Apr

The only complaint that I have is a small squeaking noise coming from the inside of the vehicle. The previous owner took excellent care of the vehicle.

24 Aug

I like it very much except on our 300 mile road trips the seats are a little small for me 6'2" 180 lbs.

5 Jun

but now know better, seats are too small and hard as a rock, no support to the side and the lumbar is worthless.

26 Nov

Its a little sluggish when the motor is cold and the cargo area is not that big for SUV.The back seat is very small for tall person (im 6`3 tall) I will give this car 4 out of 10.Wish i bought a Honda SUV.

24 Mar

but the center console has small, inconvenient cup holders.

17 Mar

Did about 2 months of research on the HL B-4 buying,,this our 3ed Toyota and am sold,,the AWD system is great here in Minnesota,,except for a few small things build quality is a 10.
