It's very sporty for an SUV and really if you want to you can drive it like a sedan.

Eco, sport, and normal drive modes are nice to have.
It can be even zippier than those cars I mentioned when in Sport mode, all while providing better gas mileage and more passenger and cargo space.

Unless you put this car into sport mode it is slow.
Sports mode does increase handling and acceleration.
A vehicle this expensive should have a much better sound system; at least a 3.5 mm plug.

I actually purchased and installed about $250 worth of sound deadening materials (Killmat) and installed it throughout the back end end of the car and door panels which helped a ton, almost quiet now.

The interior is jammed with all the latest and greatest technology and coming from my S Class experience, I now know that BMW's I drive system is the best infotainment interface by far.
It even has a scent system so outside oders are a thing of the past.

The 1.3L I4 turbo matched to the 9 speed auto makes for a great combo and the added active 4x4 w/ select terrain management system, and upgraded suspension, helps create a unique package centered around off road performance.
but when I finally saw the Jeep Renegade Upland and the Trailhawk goodies like front fascia, front skid plate, blacked out 2017-2018 version of Trailhawk wheels, and keep my Active Drive 4x4 system.
But sound quality is spectacular.

This car is cute, sporty, fun to drive, has some nice interior finishes.
but switch into sport and the X1 transforms into a much zippier car.
I love the way it accelerates and drives in sport mode, It fulfills my inner female race car driver needs, and ECO sport mode fulfills my needs to be good to the environment and to save on trips to the gas station.
It's gets around lousy in the winter, maybe it's because it's so light cannot stand the abs braking system on it!!!!

The adaptive suspension is great and when is sport mode offers a nice stiff, responsive feel.
But, when I get some time to carve back roads, the other modes turn the cars abilities up a little bit (sharper throttle with the Sport mode, manually controlling the gears,and a weighty steering).
You're hard-pressed to find a car that toes the line between practical and sporty.
Its quite sporty in driving feel and handling.
Consider the VW Golf Sport Wagon if you enjoy the driving experience of a manual transmission (which is almost extinct) with sport car like handling and cargo room.
NOT VW..BOUGHT THIS BECAUSE OF THE VALUE IT IS GREAT CAR FOR THE MONEY, VERY QUICK, SOLID, VERY GOOD FUEL ECONOMY, ENGINE IS QUIET, NICE RIDE, GOOD SOUND SYSTEM, TONS OF OPTIONS FOR NO EXTRA COST.
Beats audio system is dissent.

The suspension is a cross between sport and comfort, car is nicely connected to the road and you feel confident steering it.
Sport offers very good response -- with quite a loud roar from the dual exhausts.

I originally had a 2015 Rogue before the CRV and grew accustomed to Nissan's predictive AWD system and their VDC (Vehicle dynamic control) and Honda fell very short in my expectation and needs.

Infotainment glitches every 2-3 months forcing system reset.
2.4 engine is more than enough power wise and it becomes a whole nuther engine when pushed above 4000rpm, both in sound and power.
I do love the touchscreen and the sound quality
