25 Nov

Yes the LEAF is slightly behind in terms of range, efficiency and charging.

27 Jul

but the Leaf is a perfectly good car.

23 May

The Leaf is a great car, especially for small families in a city.

5 Jun

Slow to charge due to the lack of active cooling on the batteries.

1 Nov

First, the good: it's stupid cheap to run, especially since Nissan provides two years of No Charge To Charge service for 50kW, 30 minutes at a shot (sufficient to bring the battery from 20-ish to 75-ish percent).

3 Jun

It gets far less, (60-70%) and on any trip where you have to charge it to get home it starts gulping electricity, because of poor battery thermal management, a problem Nissan knows about

Yes the LEAF is slightly behind in terms of range, efficiency and charging.

30 Sep

Acceleration in our Leaf SV (the extended range model) is plenty quick - I would guess 6 to 7 seconds in the 0-to-60 sprint.

30 Mar

After driving the Leaf for 1 year - a fun car to drive, peppy acceleration, responsive steering, and solid road feel.

27 Jul

but the Leaf is a perfectly good car.

23 May

The Leaf is a great car, especially for small families in a city.

24 Feb

but the road noise is terrible.

30 Sep

Everything is nicely trimmed and aligned; there isn't a squeak or whine to be heard.

5 Jun

Slow to charge due to the lack of active cooling on the batteries.

24 Feb

Don't ever leave home without at least a 98% battery charge because my city (a very large metropolitan city) does not have enough charging stations, and forget the quick charging stations they are no where to be found.

Leaf seats are very nice.

8 Dec

The 2nd gen Nissan Leaf is an amazing car and more amazing value.

4 Dec

The + seat high is better, (higher)then the std leaf, much higher then M3.

7 Sep

Just purchased a 2019 Nissan Leaf SV, gun metallic trim, and I absolutely love the car.

27 Jul

but the Leaf is a perfectly good car.

18 Jun

(I'm an electrical engineer - we noticed that the Leaf monitors voltage, current, temperature, and charge state and adjusts accordingly, so we have no problem using the quick charge.)

23 May

The Leaf is a great car, especially for small families in a city.

3 Apr

I enjoy driving my Leaf and not worrying what the gas prices are going to be.

I think Nissan should let people with the smaller batteries trade them in for the larger ones and not charge them an arm and leg for it.

13 Feb

The Nissan LEAF is an exceptional car.

23 Jan

The LEAF is a great family car, one of the best.

12 Nov

The new news is how economical the Leaf is to drive.

21 Sep

At 28k miles, a little over 2 years lease I've had problems since day 1 with a noise coming from the front right wheel when turning, dealerships have looked at it and could never find the issue with it, still happening today.

12 Mar

Major issues- accelerator stuck two times and the car makes creaking noises upon breaking and accelerating.

28 Feb

There is very little wind, tire, or road noise and zero interior squeaks or rattles.

18 Aug

Finally in the fall of 2020 the popping and cracking noise was fixed.

23 May

but there is no oil to replace, the strong regenerative braking means the brake pads should last 100,000 miles, and there are no spark plugs, transmission, timing belt, or exhaust system to maintain.

28 Feb

The eco-pedal is life altering; I never have to use the brake pedal.

18 Aug

During the second repair attempt the brake mechanisms were cleaned and lubricated.

but ultimately, as others have stated, having 2 cars in our household, and having a regular (very regular) commute the used Leaf with it's range (and charging at home and office, and many other destinations) has allowed for everyday usage.

24 Jun

The Nissan Leaf is the top selling 100% electric vehicle in the world for good reason.

6 Nov

Anyway, local dealer had a great deal on a 2018 Leaf SV and I really needed a tax credit.

27 Oct

I love my 2015 Leaf, because every time the gas goes up in price I drive by the gas station and smile.

14 Jun

For as much as I love the Leaf, I love the volt even more and it's a much more practical car as it gets rid of anxiety range.

16 Jan

My commute is through two lane highway at speed limit of 50, which also fits Leaf well.

10 Jan

The Nissan LEAF excels for me in part because of the spacious design of the interior.

21 Oct

Great deals for a used Leaf these days.

15 Sep

The LEAF is a great car.

13 Sep

The Leaf is a terrific nearly silent comfortable pleasure to drive.

16 Nov

Unfortunately, all Nissan Leaf do not have liquid battery cooling.

18 Aug

Don't buy a electric car with a bad battery . .

25 Jul

The one BIG problem with owning a leaf is that there is no thermal battery management.

12 Nov

But the 2013 and newer have improved batteries and I can't see any degradation.

21 Jan

Therefore, you have to run defrost and that taxes the battery.

26 Jun

The only BIG problem is the battery degrades in the heat.

14 Jun

It's like a brand new car, very tight and quiet with no rattles or annoying noises.

13 Sep

No squeaks or rattles.

20 Jun

Once you drive an electric car for a few days, it is hard to go back to the noise, pollution, and rumble of an internal combustion engine.

14 Nov

As I walk along roads I wish a lot more more people had electric cars so I wouldn't have to hear as much noise, or breath as much exhaust.

18 Feb

In addition, there is no after-market for batteries or battery rebuild service.

13 Sep

There is no internal combustion engine, exhaust, radiator to check and service.

26 Jul

The worst part for this car is the customer service and dealership.

27 Mar

No exhaust fumes, no gas smells, no engine smells (from oil or other fluids).

13 Sep

There is no internal combustion engine, exhaust, radiator to check and service.

7 Feb

If you consider the cost of a new battery, and the resale value of higher range leaf it really makes no economic sense to put any money back in these cars.

7 Aug

Despite the battery issue, I really enjoy the Leaf ownership experience.

10 Dec

The Leaf is a fun car and it's always great passing buy the gas stations and not having to pay the ridiculous prices.

27 Jun

Bad news is that battery degradation and the cost to replace it is crazy.

29 Nov

After a battery replacement the vehicle needed many other repairs.

24 Nov

though I am missing only 4 bars my battery is under 50% of original capacity, a maximum charge from one bar to full is less than 10Kwh, my driving experience is 40 mi or less on a charge at this point in time.

7 Aug

Based on my Leaf ownership, I have become a fan of electric drivetrains, so much so that I am now on my second Leaf, one with the 30 kWh battery (which was not available in 2011).

7 Sep

There are no dealers in Phoenix, AZ that will take these cars as trade-ins because of the issues with the battery.

24 Nov

As recently as this year (5 yrs after introduction) Nissan still does not have any description of what is covered ON A LEAF under their own extended warranty which demonstrates that they have not figured out yet how to deal with this technology.

7 Sep

The lack of a battery capacity warranty has left dozens of warm-climate owners with cars that are no longer useful, and that are unsellable.

16 Nov

Unfortunately, all Nissan Leaf do not have liquid battery cooling.

23 Aug

A few negatives: The heater is not efficient and reduces the range in the winter.
