14 Nov

24 May

It has intermittent fuel system/transmission shifting problems that the dealership cannot diagnose.

30 Oct

but I believe my dealer gave me a fair shake.

24 Nov

My only complaint is the Ascent is a 4 cylinder so acceleration is noisy and road noise is a bit louder than my previous ultra quiet Murano.

17 Aug

The CVT transmission is awful.

23 Jan

Over the past 6 months, the electrical and transmission issues have become a major issues.

27 Dec

I have noticed that the CVT is louder (noticeable whine) than my old automatic and makes a rather disconcerting 'chirp' when cold and shifting into Drive.

25 Dec

To bypass the adaptive headlights, I had to turn the lights on manually, which meant that I lost the auto lights (coming on at dusk/dawn).

6 Dec

The transmission started slipping after the first oil change and the hood came apart.

22 Aug

I have been to the dealer 4 times for the transmission slipping and making screeching noises They continue to deny there is an issue and says that how it’s supposed to work.

28 Jul

The engine/CVT pairing results in rough shifting, sometimes sending noticeable shutters through the car.

19 Apr

Dynamically, the engine and transmission don't work very well together, we've had a couple of updates

26 Mar

24 Nov

My only complaint is the Ascent is a 4 cylinder so acceleration is noisy and road noise is a bit louder than my previous ultra quiet Murano.

13 May

IU have also had 2 occasions that the whole car was blinking and screens were malfunctioning the only thing to stop it was disconnecting the battery.

23 Jan

Two transmissions, battery, switches, and they still can't fix the issues.

22 Aug

The battery / electrical has also had issues where it completely drains the battery overnight even if everything is off due to the radio amp (this is what the dealer says).

28 Jul

Well, the problem is I paid 40k for a vehicle and shouldn’t have to disconnect my darn battery just to gain access to my vehicle!!

21 Jul

The rear hatch being left open drains the battery pretty quick.

21 Jul

There is a sensor in the tailgate (Not the interior car lights) that draws so much power from the battery that the car will not start.

11 Jul

Numerous reports of people having the battery drain when the hatch is left open because it keeps things such as the computer system on w no way of shutting it off.

11 Jun

This can not be done with Ascent as there is a parasitic drain on the battery when the tailgate is open.

Unfortunately, our Ascent's battery has failed multiple times within the first few months of ownership and Subaru will not replace it because their equipment does not say that the battery has failed.

Multiple recalls that have been fixed under warranty, brakes wore prematurely, B pillar exterior fitting came loose and trailer connection had to be replaced.

26 Mar

the transmission system failed .. and the dealership fixed it..

8 Oct

but this is a family car and the biggest reason for us purchasing this car was to keep our small children safe -- which they definitely are not with a transmission that starts to fail out of nowhere on the freeway.

15 Jul

We recently purchased a 2019 Subaru Ascent (one month ago), and it has failed to start twice.

2 Jul

The damage was done from the truck pushing forward when the steering rack failed to disengage well the rest is obvious, you have three perpendicular wheels and one wheel pointing right, well of course your going to get damage to the wheel pointing right.

It is not just the transmission failing

The transmission is fine, a light foot is needed to get the most of the CVT on starts and provides smooth acceleration up to driving speeds.

6 Jun

Cold start up can sometimes give a stumble or hesitation when first shifting out of park, this problem cannot be duplicated regularly.

12 Jul

It would be nice if they tightened up the handling a bit--I read that the 2020 may address this. Transmission.

21 May

The shifter has 5 positions: P, R, N, D and M. The manual mode requires shifting to drive then pulling the selector towards the driver, so you’ll never engage it by accident when selecting drive.

7 Mar

I personally love the CVT transmission as we live in Tennessee and you don't have that annoying hunting for a gear downshifting and upshifting going thru the mountains.

20 Jan

But the Outback's 2.5L combined with the CVT transmission really lags in performance on the highway and Subaru should have addressed that already.

30 Jul

3 Jul

Needless to say, with this number of problems within the first 15 months of having the Forester, there is no way I would ever keep this car outside of warranty.

1 May

If I had to nitpick, I would wish for the original equipment tires on the base model to have a little more aggressive AT style tread and a higher treadwear warranty, as the current tires are showing significant wear at this point.
