4 Sep

If you're looking for more power you'd probably want to look at the Sequoia (also sacrificing additional gas mileage),

4 Jul

Ongoing front end vibration issues.

21 Nov

I’d rather have a Spartan interior that stayed quiet and didn’t develop squeaks and rattles over time.

19 Nov

Only normal maintenance and no squeeks or rattles.

10 Feb

Right off the lot something under the dash was rattling, the dealer tried to fix

3 Jan

I did notice that the engine rattles a LOT on start up and even after warmed up is quite loud.

28 Oct

After the first full year of ownership it still drives like it did when we first took the test drive, no rattles, nothing needs adjustment, no dealer fixes.

30 Nov

So far, I'm truly enjoying the vehicle, and even with the off road tires, it rides smoothly and road noise is hardly as bad as my old truck.

17 Nov

Not a lot of wind/road noise in the cabin, which surprised me because of the all terrain tires and/or sheer size of the truck.

10 Feb

The remote start app is unreliable - dealer wants to blame phone service

25 May

Pairs poorly with iPhones, problems often.

18 Apr

Difficult to clean interior and exterior, difficult to get under seats with hands nowhere to set phone so sat on lap and not 1 day phone didn’t go under seat which hand can’t get under while driving.

18 Feb

In addition, there are not as many newer electronics (there is a touch screen that is very easy to use for radio, satellite radio, and phone calls).

22 Dec

You have to put your phone inside the console to charge??

15 Apr

Lack of BSM and FCC dont bother me a bit as I learned how to drive properly years ago and dont try to text on a little dumb phone while I am driving.

15 Jun

My only few other wishes would be for Blind Spot Monitoring and power folding mirrors.

23 Nov

No power tailgate, no blindspot warning indicator, no lumbar on the passenger side.

31 Jan

On the downside, the fuel economy could be better and I wish they could have updated the 17' S with led lighting in and out and possibly blind spot monitoring.

It cost $2000 to buy a rebuilt system, the windshield replacement was $1500, and the back door sensor malfunctioned leading to an insanely terrible emergency signal inside the car that will not shut off.

15 Mar

23 Feb

It has an extremely capable 4WD system and there is a reason it costs nearly $40K more than a Sequoia costs.

24 Aug

After they discussed the issue with Toyota I received a call that the transmission is going to be replaced.

27 May

I've been complaining about the transmission issue with this vehicle since I drove it off the lot.

15 Oct

the transmission is terrible.

9 Jul

Transmission went out at 12,800 miles.

26 Jan

Espect some problem whit your transmission I have a 2017 hardly drive it 8,300 mile they told me they have to chainge the transmission so call relaible vehicles they just lost 1 more customers won't buy a Toyota good by for ever .

23 Jun

7000 miles first transmission went out.

16 Feb

After many days and nights of stress dealing with Toyota (Corporate and Westport dealership) the problem was diagnosed as needing a new transmission.

22 Jan

The transmission problem occurred at 8,253 miles, lucky for my wife, she was at a red light when the transmission failed and nobody was injured.

20 May

The road noise is also too loud even with Michelin tires.

28 Apr

Road noise is alright could be a bit more insulated and wind noise as well.

17 Oct

but one initial issue--a severe wind noise at the driver door.

9 Jan

Have had issues since Day 1 with wind noise and whistling above 40mph on both Front Driver and Passenger Side door windows.

10 Jan

but steering doesn’t give any feedback, suspension makes much more noise than previous one.

1 Jan

but, at about 8500-9000 miles on the 2017 Limited AWD, the tires began to vibrate and make a mild grinding noise.

18 Dec

Whistling wind noise driving at highway speeds from passenger side window/mirror. 2.

7 Dec

(2) Wind noise is very high on both the rear doors and the dealer say that nothing can be done to help.

7 Sep

The breaks cry noisy .

2 Sep

Since the rattling was repaired there has not been another issue with the vehicle.

Don't buy the Toyota highlander 2017 xle, 3 rd row small, they make 3rd row as baby sit, not 3rd row seats are same like middle row, they save money on 3rd row seats, headlights are no LED , as 37000 usd car should have LED light.

22 Jan

20 Jan

The transmission problem occurred at 8,253 miles, lucky for my wife, she was at a red light when the transmission failed and nobody was injured.

8 Jan

The warning lights and beepers are distracting and at times go off when other vehicles are not close or within the collision zone, especially in parking lots.

18 Dec

They could get away with the side sensor lane changing lights in mirrors and the rear end collision avoidance and it would be fine.

7 Dec

(5) The feature that shuts down the engine while at a stop light is very agitating and should be a option to either always on or always off.

27 Feb

The infotainment system interface is pretty mediocre and the center armrest is not comfortable which is something that annoys me every time I drive it.

5 Jan

but if you have a heavy foot you have to turn on the Power mode in the center dash screen every drive at touch of a button to make throttle a hint more responsive to squeeze a bit of fun out of drive.

27 May

The sound system is not of any quality, the navigation doesn't work properly, and the voice controls don't either.

4 Mar

There is a YouTube channel (The Car Care Nut) where the channel host is a Toyota Master Mechanic and advises to do your oil drain at 5K instead of 10k.

6 Sep

Furthermore, the Highlander has a power mode which is easy to turn on every time you start the engine on the middle screen which gives you more power and downshifts quicker from stop signs and the accelerator becomes light as heck.

23 Jul

but the NAV/ infotainment system is a BUST.

9 Jul

Besides the transmission issues, my only other complaint is with the touch screen.

15 Jun

Love this vehicle except for no Android auto, and poor Navigation system.

22 Aug

There is a whistling noise while driving that I'm not able to find.

31 May

I have noticed too much wind noise above 60 mph, and this is a big disappointment to me because of Toyota's reputation.

28 May

I tried to locate the source of the noise and taped up everything in the end

30 Mar

It is loud due to excessive noise from the windows.

4 Feb

The noise is very annoying and persistent.

28 Jan

You get engine noise at low speed and tire noise along with wind noise at speeds higher than 45 mph.

22 Jan

The transmission problem occurred at 8,253 miles, lucky for my wife, she was at a red light when the transmission failed and nobody was injured.

4 Oct

The transmission is a little finicky.

24 May

I did not like the Honda Pilot interior, nor the past reliability, nor the "new" engine, transmission of the Pilot.

23 Mar

Only drawback, when your flooring the gas pedal the Highlander has a hard time figuring out when to shift to the next gear.

21 Jun

My gripe is with the front seat headrests that force one's head too far forward and are not adjustable like the Subaru's.

7 Dec

Each bar is fixed at less than 2 feet away from each other, and NOT ADJUSTABLE.

11 Feb

No memory seat for drivers,no adjustable up, on passenger side, for short ladies, no hot power outlet ,ride not as great as hoped for.Mileage not as good as our other older Flex.

4 Aug

Our drivers seat is adjustable up & down, so okay. 3.

22 Feb

Steering load seems opposite of what it should be, very light at high speed and as you brake / turn at lower speeds it gets heavier.

8 Oct

It seems no matter what Toyota vehicle we lease the brakes are the weakest link.

23 Feb

The Chevy and Jeep had poor reviews ranging from the Chevy Traverse catching on fire 2 days after having it and the Jeep Grand Cherokee having issues with also catching on fire and having an issue with it's parking brake not holding and rolling away.

2 Jan

The brakes are awful, pedal often goes almost to the floor and the dealer says this is normal. They would not even check to see if the brakes needed to be bled as they said this would be admitting there was a problem?????????)

23 Dec

After reading many other customer complaints about various issues with 2013-2015 brakes not working while driving (Yikes!

27 Apr

Fuel economy isn't great (we averaged 20 mpg with a cargo box) -- hoping that improves as the engine breaks in.

23 Jul

but the NAV/ infotainment system is a BUST.

28 Jan

The Entune system is of very poor quality and requires at least a weekly reboot, many reviews describe it as "unreliable at best" - this is quite accurate.

22 Feb

Closing the front door has a tinny thunk to it that sounds terrible.

5 Feb

The navigation system in the 2006 was poor and I would have to say the 2016 is worse!

31 May

The infotainment voice command is difficult and slow, plus it is annoying to use as it makes you wait for a beep sound before you can speak and many times I will talk over the computer and it will not understand what I want.

18 Mar

It's not that it doesn't sound good when it's working.

28 Jan

JBL radio speakers are poor and there is not a setting that will pair volume with increased sound so in town at 40 mph your radio volume is set at 12 for volume and on the highway at 70 mph you need to turn the radio up to a setting of 28.

23 Dec

It sounds like the 2013, 2014, and 2015 may be lemons.

16 Dec

No idea what it was so Googled it; "This is the sound of a fuel evaporation leakage check and, it does not indicate a malfunction" was the answer in several searches.

8 Nov

The onboard tech is OK, the Toyota Entune system has a couple of OK features including notification of txt's and emails - although you cannot read them while driving

6 Oct

It is common to other 4runners as the dealer took us for a ride in a new limited with 0 miles and it also had the noise.

9 Sep

The only issue is a persistent wheel balance shake at 62-63mph.

25 Apr

The noise level is high in the 4runner when driving. 4.

1 Apr

10 Feb

The remote start app is unreliable - dealer wants to blame phone service

9 Dec

button and the screen cracked so the navigation and my phone no longer worked so we took it to the dealer and they said it was not covered because it was caused by an outside force.

21 Dec

No where to put backpacks or luggage. Wish there were more compartments for my junk up front, (phone, chapstick, mascara, etc.)

9 Sep

The BlueTooth phone connection works very well; the only problems are that it’s “forgotten” about my phone a couple of times and it can’t see texts or email on my phone (Google Nexus, Android 6).

4 Aug

When you are paying >$40K for a vehicle, you should not have to pay extra for paint protection to be applied.

15 Apr

My Land Rover stayed in the shop and all of my friends with GMC/Chevy twins like the Tahoe have experienced everything from poor quality paint jobs to a myriad of issues plus they paid a lot more for their SUVs than I did for the Toyota.

29 May

After owning 2 months the paint is chipping off.

12 Dec

GM used Dupont paints and clear coats, and there is a world of difference.

10 Feb

Although there is a dash lights dimmer, suddenly the brightest setting isn't as bright where the heater/AC displays the settings.

31 Jan

The main shortcoming, which is big one are the headlights- they are horrible.
