Though I will never part with my 2015 Passat TDI MT, I have enjoyed the amenities that a newer, SEL-trim provides.

but They were noisy and I expect they could have achieved better economy with better-chosen ratios.)

14 Apr

Dont like the noise of the backup camera and have some concern about reliability

20 Jan

Electronics I could do without: motorized rear camera flip-up behind the logo (its noisy), and convoluted method to raise the windshield wipers off the windshield, and parking assist

23 Jan

Feel much safer with auto 4 motion, lane assist, forward collision warning, blind spot, cross traffic, pedestrian warning.

27 Jan

No blind spot moniring and only 1 USB port.

20 Jan

Its unfortunate that no blind spot detection, power liftgate, or remote start are not available, and daytime running lights only offered with an expensive lighting package.

16 May

The only small complaint is minimal legroom in the back seat.

20 Jan

I do wish backseat room was a bit deeper, as a rear facing carseat is very snug up against the front seats,

24 May

I cannot complain about anything with this car beyond the poor legroom in the rear passenger seats and the odd placement of the USB port in the center console.

18 Jan

Who in the world would make it nearly impossible to unplug something from the USB socket?

I owed a Passat Altrack V8 Wagon for several years prior to this car, so was concerned my Golf would live up to my expectations, it has.

27 Jan

No blind spot moniring and only 1 USB port.

25 Jun

Annoying since this is the port that'll be used most.

24 Apr

The USB port for the phone is in a compartment infront of the shifter that is hard to reach in (even with small hands) and when my phone (iPhone 6) is plugged in it is difficult to position it so that the compartment can close.

I had a hitch receiver put on for a bike rack and it sits higher than the 2013 did so that is a big improvement (no dragging) and the Yakima crossbars on the roof make zero noise.

Although it is almost as large outside as the Passat, it offers noticeably less usable cargo volume, albeit still sufficient for most purposes.

The Sportwagen is about the same size, and the TDi Sportwagon gets even better mileage than the Passat.

27 Jul

Windshield wiper stalk too close to steering wheel.

28 Aug

When I am tired, I can easily switch to automatic control, using the steering wheel.

29 Sep

I have an intermittent warning light that has no o do with the steering. 3.

Cons: First gear can be a little slow to engage at times, and while the steering is accurate, it sometimes feel a bit light sometimes.

Up until I owned my awesome 2007 BMW 335i coupe, there was no car I had more fun driving and showing off than my sporty and sexy white Passat.

21 Apr

The 1998 Volkswagen Passat is a powerful and spacious vehicle.

14 May

My wife has a Saab 9-3 and the Passat is a far superior car (even she says so).

26 Feb

The 1998 Volkswagen Passat GLS V6 Sedan is fun to drive,

16 Jan

The Passat is a very nice car if you treat it right.

9 Jul

From reading other reviews of this car, it seems that each Passat was either built well or built poorly.

19 Dec

Compared to American and Japanese cars in this price range and above, the interior and exterior styling, performance and overall feel of the Passat are off the charts.

29 Sep

but fun in my German made Passat and will continue to do so for a long while.

19 May

The Passat was by far the best car available in its class at that time and I never regretted my purchase.

12 May

Electrically unreliable (locks, windows, interior lights, wipers, radio), underpowered and expensive to maintain.

4 Dec

The check engine light is annoying.

24 Jun

The door lock/key fob/alarm system is only works intermittently and an electrical problem keeps the trunk light from working on mine.

19 Dec

Also, the ABS brake system doesn't work, the light is on and the dealer quoted $2,100 to fix it.

20 Sep

), radio knob screwy, climate control lights intermittent AND have mystery oil leak I refuse to tackle until it becomes major.

17 Jun

Between the recalls, that I was never alerted to by VW and the other problems (interior & trunk lights malfunctioning often; replacing both headlights/taillights twice in four years, timing belt breaking/causing major damage to the engine).

The center arm rest is cracking everywhere and the closing lid has fallen off.

13 Sep

i just started having some slight vibration so i took it in.

14 Mar

I did have the control arms replaced on one side at 40k miles because they were creaking, but VW took care of us on that and we've had no other notable problems.

19 Dec

If your front suspension hasn't been replaced yet, you're driving a ticking time bomb.

23 Mar

Front bushings failed; PRICEY fix requires replacement of control arms.

12 Sep

I've experienced the common problems with the Passat (control arms, window regulators, coil packs) that shouldn't be present in a car/company with as much manufacturing history as VW.

9 Jul

After five years and 45,000 miles, I'm getting rid of this car before I have to shell out over $3,000 for brakes and control arm.

Very reliable, with no major part failures - just keep changing the oil.

20 Sep

In 16k mi: tie rod ends failed (should be recalled), probably bad control arms (s/b recalled), ABS controller bad so tach is flatlined & oil/brake/ABS lights are on (WHY can't VW make an ABS system good for 5 years?
